Residential Building Permits:
If Everything is in Order,
The County Inspection Office Will Issue You:
  • A building permit for new construction or renovation of your home, or
  • An electrical permit, allowing an electrician licensed in Mobile County or owner to hook up the power from the utility service point to premises wiring system.

Once you have obtained your required building permit, you must arrange with the County for required inspections. Because you are the contractor of record, you must arrange and handle the inspections. After you have arranged an inspection of the new construction, you must contact your local power company to apply for service. Once the power company receives a release from the County Inspection Office, your electrical service can be turned on.
