Foster Grandparent Program

Mission: To provide services to children and youth with exceptional needs

Benefits to joining: Tax-free stipend, daily meal allowance, transportation allowance, insurance coverage, physical scheduling

Services provided by volunteers: Tutor students to improve academic skills; motivate and instill practical energies toward good behavior; reward perfect socialization habits; listen and counsel the needs of each child/youth individually; serve as positive role models; mentor and tutor youth; help with reading abilities; care for babies and children with long-term illness; and assist children with mental and physical disabilities.

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program

Mission: To provide essential help at non-profit and health care agencies

Benefits to joining: Free accident coverage, liability coverage and excess automobile coverage while participating in volunteer activity or while driving to or from your place of service; on a limited basis transportation may be provided for volunteers who do not drive and transportation reimbursement may be provided for those who could not otherwise volunteer

Services provided by volunteers: Services vary. We do almost everything, said Ms. Grodsky.

Senior Companion Program

Mission: To provide assistance and friendship to seniors who are homebound and to frail adults who are in day care centers.

Benefits to joining:

Services provided by volunteers: helping others to maintain their highest level of independent living; prepare meals for their clients; help with grocery shopping; escort to medical appointments; and assist with day-to-day living tasks
