In his role as a city councilperson in Mobile, and then as County Commissioner, Stephen Nodine has stood for conservative values, fought for common sense solutions to tough challenges and worked to implement a clear vision for more jobs, better roads, more parks and green space, safer communities and a brighter future.

Commissioner Nodine has been a staunch supporter of capital improvement projects, lobbying for and directing funding for over 100 million dollars in new road projects in Mobile County.

Parks and green space are essential to the quality of life for residents of Mobile County, and Commissioner Nodine continues to fulfill his commitments to rebuild and create new parks. The Semmes Community Playground opened in February of 2007; the park includes  a state of the art play area, picnic pavilions and walking trails. Commissioner Nodine plans to unveil a plan for a new library in Semmes and renovations to the Boys and Girls Club in the near future.

Nodine has made economic development and job creation a top priority of his tenure as county commissioner. He was instrumental in securing the project to build the new RSA Tower in Mobile and has led the charge to bring the KC-30 Tanker, a joint project from Northrop Grumman and EADS, one of the largest economic development projects the County has been involved in, to Mobile. From the relocation of International Shipholding Corporation's corporate headquarters to Mobile, to the expansion of Austal's shipbuilding capacity, Commissioner Nodine supports the creation of new jobs and wealth in Mobile County by providing the means for companies to grow and expand.

In 2006, the County Commission adopted a sales tax holiday weekend, giving families much needed relief from the expenses families incur during back to school time.

Between 1981 and 1988, Nodine served in the U.S. Army. Nodine married his wife Kimberlee Elizabeth Rish in 1995. They are the proud parents of Christopher, age 11.
